  1. Short:    72hz NTSC monitor driver WORKS!

  7. This is a replacement for the euro36 icon that emulates ntsc.
  8. It replaces my old hack of nt72, and works waaaay better.
  9. Just change a couple 'o tooltypes and you can make it do pal too.

  11. Requirements:
  12. An Amiga with 2.x+, and a 2.1 or higher euro36 monitor driver.
  13. A monitor that will either handle a 72hz refresh rate, or a monitor with
  14. a vertical hold.  An Amiga 1080, or Commodore 2002 will work--I tested it
  15. on both.  (Well, the monitors are virtually identical anywayz)
  16. I don't know if this requires ECS or above, if it works on OCS, email me.
  17. I don't know what It'll do to a TV.

  29. Tested with a variety of applications and games.
  30. Some OS-unfriendly programs that bang the hardware to do ntsc-pal switches
  31. will very likely mess things up.

  33. Caveats:
  34. NO VERTICAL OVERSCAN, YOU ARE NOW LIMITED TO 200 or 400 pixel high screens!
  35. (The cost of a higher refresh rate on ECS)

  64. 1.0    Hacked CBM's v40 ntsc driver, didn't always work as planned, and
  65.     I even had to write a little 64-byte executable to bang the hardware
  66.     to get it to work right in some circumstances.  This proved unstable
  67.     when using pic-viewers 'n' stuff that banged the hardware...forcing
  68.     me to use the 64-byte banger every time it got unbanged.

  70. 2.0    Messed with the euro36 driver until it stopped bending the top of
  71.     my screen over to the right.
  72.     It turned out that I had to set the tooltype: VBSTOP=200
  73.     I also decided not to change the name/screenmode of the driver,
  74.     because I didn't know what effect it would have, and of course,
  75.     Laziness!
